At Fabdental we take pride in making sure our dental practice is super kid-friendly!
We make it easy to get the kids out of the car, with our dedicated parking behind the practice and as soon as you walk in the door, you’ll find a dedicated kid’s corner for them to play in while waiting.
Lots of our dentists have children of their own, and are excellent at making sure your child is comfortable during their checkup. In the treatment room, your kids can enjoy music, television shows, us pulling funny faces and more to keep them entertained while we check their teeth.
Ideally you should book your child in from around the age of 3 (or whenever they have a full mouth of teeth). This first visit is more just to get them used to the idea of going to a dentist, and involves a run ride in the chair and a very quick check up – not to mention a few goodies to take home!
We explain and spend time with the kids, to make sure they understand the importance of looking after their teeth at home. If you find you are struggling with getting younger kids to brush their teeth, let us know – our dentists always have some handy new trick to get kids brushing!
As children get older, along with providing regular checkups, we can assist with services such as mouth guards and orthodontics including braces.
Medibank Children’s Dental Benefits Scheme
Children aged between two and 18 years may have access to dental care through the Medibank Childrens Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS). If you are eligible for this scheme you will have received a letter from Medicare or to check if your child is eligible for the CDBS go to the Department of Human Services website.
Benefits for basic dental services, including examinations, X-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions, are capped at $1000 per child over two consecutive calendar years. Children won’t even have to be on a waiting list – the young patient will be given the next available appointment.
